On the tube up to a friend’s house for lunch, just as we pulled into Willesden Green in some pleasant sunshine, I got a wave of ideas for “Fisherman Song” – a couple of new verses, chord structures and a slight change to the way the tune should go in the second line of each verse. Not far from Maurice’s original, but worthy of an immediate recording into the iPhone and subsequent emailing of the note to M. I updated the lyrics right there (sometimes internet access from anywhere can be useful).

Later, Maurice turned the whole song into something more powerful – and slightly darker – by altering the third verse. Its so much better. Looks like we have a title thanks to the repeating line of “a thousand years and counting” – it will just be called A Thousand Years.
