I just sent the BA version of Jumping Ship over to Maurice, having cracked the chorus during a walk home down Westow Hill tonight. I had the instrumental demo in my headphones and was singing my head off. I completely terrified a schoolgirl waiting for a bus. Have you ever done that? Just been doing something with outrageous verve and gusto, totally un-self-conscious, then you suddenly realise someone is watching you and you feel like a complete tit.
Anyway, I think its sounding good. Very Steely Dan-esque lyrics. 184bpm verses with a nice rolling finger-picked guitar part, then a drop to half-time in the chorus.
I can’t believe Maurice has managed to get the word “caboose” into the first verse!
