I’m delighted to report that Chris Difford has agreed to sing backing vocals on Jumping Ship once he has finished his current tour with Squeeze. As he’s one of my songwriting heroes, this is great news, and has excited the Crow camp.

However, I’m not happy with the chorus of the track now. It needs to do something better than it is right now. The verses and bridges are feeling great, so I want it to deliver a killer punch when the chorus kicks in. It needs to be stripped out, some kind of simpler synth lines. Not sure at the moment, but I’ll just press on with it this week and get it nailed. For now, the recording just has a massive hole in it, dropping down to just the drum track (which is good).

I’ve just seen some photos on Twitter that Graham Linehan retweeted… bodies of children killed in Gaza today. I literally couldn’t breathe for a few seconds, a sort of weird panic, unable to separate the image of them with the thought of my own kids downstairs sleeping. I suppose most parents looking at such utter horror would feel the same, but it is such a dose of hard reality I just had to shut Logic down and forget about it. When I’m lost in the music we’re making, its so full of joy and creative beauty, then you come out to this. Sometimes there are no words.
