…which track I’m working on. Yes, Jumping Ship. I can imagine certain people thinking “it had better be worth the f**king wait!”

Which it may or may not be. It’s hard to tell at this stage. I’m just piecing the middle section together using soft synths to try out ideas and get the chord structures right first before I wheel out the Juno-60, SH-101 and the Korg MS-20. Whether it works or not will depend entirely on whether the delightful Foreign Slippers decides she likes the track enough to sing on it and bring to life the other-worldly siren voices which I can hear in my head. Which she may or may not.

Lots of maybe/maybe nots tonight.

I’m going to visit the phenomenal designer Matt Rudd tomorrow night about the iOS app that will accompany the album. He rebranded Channel 4 (twice) including the 2010 rebrand that brought the cubist “2 viewpoints” stuff to the table, and is currently involved with a major rebrand of ITV. Bit of a genius that boy. So you can imagine that I’m more or less peeing my pants with excitement that he’s going to even lend one second of his thinking time to this project. I do think the app idea I’ve got is pretty good for the future of digital music, and the early prototype is working nicely here. I mentioned it to Jez yesterday in Caffe Nero, Crystal Palace, and he got rather animated.

I haven’t had a cup of tea all day – maybe that’s why I feel so utterly strange tonight. Better get the kettle on.
